Brilliant or Baffling? Hawaii Chair

Savvy says: Baffling

While the infomercial for the Hawaii Chair ($294) is hilarious, I think the product is really only good for entertainment purposes.

The chair is described on the company's website as combining the ancient art of Hula with a Hula motor that will take the "work out of your work." I'm sure it would take the work out of your work, because I sure couldn't get anything accomplished while sitting on this amusement park ride of a chair. Also, it kind of reminds me of Austin Powers' spinning bed! It's not something that wouldn't make its way into my apartment, even on sale from $420 to $294. What do you think?

The woman who said it takes the work out of work looked like she was getting ticked off, and it would really irritate me, too. That's just...weird.

I saw this chair on Ellen too, you should look it up on youtube, it's the funniest clip ever. As for the chair...total waste of money.

OMG! hahaha. THAT looks FUNNY and FUN!

ALTHOUGH, let me tell you that that might actually help abs...BECAUSE when I go my weekly Disneyland trips, the ride Indiana Jones really moves and tosses you around everywhere, and that REALLY works my abs believe it or not!

I used to have a Hawaii Chair, until I figured out that I could burn twice the calories by doing all my work while riding a mechanical bull. Now THAT is brilliant!!

I think the problem is that people don't understand how it's meant to work. You're supposed to get to the point where you are NOT wiggling around like you have no spine - therefore strengthening your core. I thought it was silly until I saw Ellen use it. It's not as easy as these people make it look. Ellen works out nearly every day with the trainer guy from Biggest Loser, yet she was out of breath just trying to sit still. I know she works on her core because she does stability ball training with Bob. She was supposed to get to the point where she could kneel on top of the ball and keep her balance, which means her core should be solid yet this chair was too much for her to handle (on the higher settings). I don't think it's one for work, and it may look silly, but it probably works.
