Starbucks announced they'll no longer offer organic milk as of February 26. A memo that went out to employees read, "If a customer requests organic milk, let them know that our milk is now rBGH-free." It's supposedly the first change of many as the company tries to get its groove back.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone ask for something with organic milk there. I don't think getting rid of it is the option. I think getting rid of the regular milk would be. Organic milk has a longer shelf life, so your milk won't be going bad as often.

I always just get the milk that is rBGH-free - the local dairy that does it around here is actually organic, they just don't want to go through all the goverment stuff of becoming certified organic.

I frequent Starbucks fairly regularly and only a couple days ago was the first time I'd ever heard anyone mention organic milk there. I didn't even know they had it! It won't change anything for me though. I use soy milk only. I just wish they wouldn't stop brewing the mild in the afternoon.

Guess it's a step in the right direction... must cost more to carry it than the benefit they're getting from it. But, in the post that is linked above, they say they want to re-focus on the customer experience. I don't think taking away milk options will make the customer happier.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone ask for organic milk at Starbucks. Soy and non-fat seem like the most popular options, around here at least.

Well, I think that, environmentally speaking, making all of their milk rBGH-free is the right way to go, and dropping the certified organic milk might bring prices down a cent or two? I don't know, I don't really like Starbucks much anyway; I just brew coffee at home in the morning and maybe buy a Chai latte or something when I'm out and about and need a fix...

If people aren't requesting it, drop it. Did anyone stop going when they raised the prices? I have cut way back and unfortunately Caribou is on every corner here, but Starbucks are harder to find. I do love me a sugar free cinnamon dulce skim latte so much. Caribou has nothing that can compare.

I've always been told that they didn't have fresh organic milk, only the boxed kind. Which just doesn't seem right. I go to local places that carry local organic milk (and no, soy isn't a good substitute because I'm allergic).

I was never a big Starbuck's fan, but now, even more so not-so-much. Such a huge corporation surely is able to purchase an organic milk option. This will only hurt small family farms, as well as the environment.

The largest reason most people switch to organic is the hormones, if more "regular" milk producers aren't using hormones, I say go with the cheaper product unless there's a huge demand for it. I actually just switched from organic to generic non-rBGH milk.

The organic milk they used before (at least on the East cost)came from parmalat (before the went bankrupt) and its was some weird high temperature milk that sat on the shelves for months with out refrigeration. They would refrigerate it once opened but it just seemed really gross that milk sat on the shelf for so long. When I worked there, not many people asked for it. I hope SB is just looking for an alternate source.
